PostSubject: Miller nominated to the Hall of Fame.   Tue Nov 30, 2010 7:04 pm

http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2010-11-30/reggie-miller-leads-basketball-hall-of-fame-nominations

WTF?!

Okay. I'm not a Reggie Miller fan. Never have been. He deserves to get in... BUT LEADS the nominations?

Dennis Rodman should be the one leading the nominations.

5x champ. 2 x DPOY. 7 first teams All-Defense. 1 2nd team All-Defense. 2 3rd team All NBA (only one less than Miller 3 3rd team All-NBA). 7 straight rebounding titles maxing out at 18.7 rebounds a game. At 6'7 and 215lbs this 2nd round pick was one of the greatest defenders to ever lace 'em up. He guarded blazing fast point guards to hulking centers.

But the article nonchalantly mentions Rodman after Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson, Chris Mullin, Don Nelson, and Bernard King (deserving... but still...) who combine for a total of ZERO NBA rings.

Nelson got rings as a player, but not as a coach...

I just have this feeling that once again Rodman (and Tex Winter) will mysteriously not get into the HoF once again.

While Reggie will probably get in on the first ballot.

Miller was a sharp shooter...the game's finest pure shooter to ever step foot on a basketball court. Not sure where was he good at but still...

Bernard King, the guy's deserving. For his insane ability to score,he's rewarded with the right award. He injured himself in the time of the very pick of his abilities but he came back to become an All Star

Dennis Rodman should be leading this class for sure. You have mentioned here. But where's the love for ARTIS GILMORE?HELLO?

Artis Gilmore

-8x NBA All Star
-NBA All Defensive Second Team (1978)
-NBA Career Leader in FG% (59.9%)
-All Time Career Leader in FG% (58.2%)
-# ABA All-Time Team (1997)
-# ABA MVP (1972)
-# ABA Rookie of the Year (1972)
-# 5x ABA All-Star (1972-76)
-# 5x All-ABA First Team (1972-76)
-# 5x ABA All-Defensive First Team (1972-76)
-# ABA All-Star Game MVP (1974)
-# ABA Playoff MVP (1975)

Bio:One of the greatest centers in the history of professional basketball who had very good career which included one of the better college careers and successful in both NBA/ABA.The dude was one of the best interior defenders, rebounders and shot blockers ever.He was not that good scorer but still efficient at least who enjoyed Hall Of Fame college career with honors like one of the few players ever to get 20/20,all time NCAA rebounding leader etc

WHERE THE FUCK IS HE IN THE HALL OF FAME?IF PETE MAROVICH MADE IT TO THE NBA 50 GREATEST THANKS TO HIS COLLEGE CAREER,THEN WHERE'S THIS GUY?

I'm just disappointed from not including a great player like Gilmore. When will he get that damn call?????

Miller deserves to be a HOF and I loved watching him play. He's well deserving of the honor

I do think Rodman should be heading this HOF class though. It would've been great for Jordan to head it 2 years ago, Pippen to head it last year, and Rodman to head it this year

Nick, Miller may have more nominations than Rodman because he was considered the more "classy" player. Rodman's character later in his career and since has been strange and unfortunately, those traits can get in the way of recognizing an otherwise great career.

Miller is a toss up for me really.
Rodman should def be a HOF player
WTF and triple that WTF 1000x with Mark Jackson. That's just absurd haha

No one on that list deserves it more than Bernard King. He did more in a cut-short due to injury career than what all these guys did in a lifetime of their careers.

A lot of people might not agree with me about this.. but I don't think Miller was even THAT good of a player. What was he really good at? shooting. What else was he really good at? Anybody? Oh yeah.. maybe trash talking.

He was 6'7 and averaged like 3 rebounds a game. That's not that good for someone who is 6'7. Rodman was 6'7 and averaged 13 RPG in his career. Miller wasn't a great passer or a great defender. Never won a ring.

...yet people still continue to mention him as a top 5 SG of all-time. Some smart people even put him at 3-4.

Does he deserve to go to the H.O.F? yeah.. if you hold the record for most 3's in a career then you should get in.. And he wasn't a BAD player.. he just wasn't a GREAT one either.

I agree.

The only thing I've ever thought Miller excelled at was coming up big in playoff games (even though people forget many of his stinker games) and being ultra-competitive.

Oh... and trash talking.

He had a long and fairly injury free career.

But the guy was not a good defender at all... didn't get to the line (save for a three season stretch early in his career)... didn't pass... didn't rebound... never did better than 3rd team All-NBA... never made the All-Defense... and his only big record is about to be surpassed by Ray Allen. But I'm pretty sure he'll get in first ballot while Rodman has been passed over many times and it took Dennis Johnson dying to get him into the Hall of Fame.

I don't get it.

It might took Artis Gilmore the same thing as Dennis Johnson to get in the Hall Of Fame.Pathetic and sad to such all time greats

No.4 in blocked shots
Chicago Bulls all time leading blocker
NBA All Time leader in FG% (59.9)
All Time leader in FG% 58.2% (Shaq can still surpass that)
Chicago Bulls all time leader in Fg% (has interesting stats in Chicago, such as also 4th in offensive boards,3rd in total boards,3rd in defensive
and the rest that i mentioned in my first post
