PostSubject: Mid-Season Awards   Sat Jan 15, 2011 2:02 pm

MVP: Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks

2-7 record without him. Yes, Butler missed some of those games as well, but they even played poorly in the couple of games Butler did appear in while dirk was out. Plus they have lost to some bad teams. His numbers are pretty good and the Mavs are a serious threat when he’s actually in the lineup.

[Note: I’m not picking anyone from San Antonio, Boston, or Miami because it’s hard to choose one guy over the others.]

*Other MVP candidates: Deron Williams, Utah Jazz. Amar’e Stoudemire, New York Knicks. Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls.

DPOY: Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

The Magic are still one of the top defensive teams in the league despite not having depth down low. Also, overall, the Magic lack solid individual defensive players. Howard has been consistently good on defense.

*Other DPOY candidates: Andrew Bogut, Milwaukee Bucks. Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets. Tyson Chandler, Dallas Mavericks.

MIP: Eric Gordon, Los Angeles Clippers

It was tough for me to pick this one. But Gordon has consistently been a good scorer this season and has improved his rebounding/passing.

*Other MIP candidates: Michael Beasley, Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves. Raymond Felton, New York Knicks.

6th Man: Jamal Crawford, Atlanta Hawks

He did a good job helping the Hawks win games while JJ was out and has been a monster off the bench this month.

*Other 6th Man Candidates: Jason Terry, Dallas Mavericks. Glen Davis, Boston Celtics. C.J Miles, Utah Jazz.

ROY: Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers.

Unless he gets injured, he’ll win this award.

COY: Gregg Popovic, San Antonio Spurs

They have the best record in the league and have by far exceeded expectations so far this season.

*Other COY Candidates: Tom Thibodeau, Chicago Bulls. Doc Rivers, Boston Celtics. Jerry Sloan, Utah Jazz.

I agree with you on everything but I'm kinda in dilemma when it comes to MVP and COY.

For MVP, I would give the edge to Rose because he's been carrying this team through injuries and also had to dock some points from Dirk for missing games...
And for the COY...I would give to Thibodeau because of the injuries as well as the suck ass play from the SG position...god damn its aweful...

yeah...I'm kinda high on the Bulls right now...

EDIT: How on earth would Lebron be the MVP? Can someone plz explain that to me...

He has Wade and Bosh....thats why I'm asking how he can be considered as a serious MVP candidate..

#'s.

There has been very little drop off in his rumbers, while playing with Wade and Bosh.

A great record after the "getting to know you" period. That insane road trip with LeBron dropping huge numbers every night. Heat struggling without him (kinda'). Cleveland hurting bad.

Uh... I dunno'.

He's not my MVP either... But I don't think he's out of the conversation.

He's hands down the best player for a team that's won 20 of the last 22 games..Lebron has by his lonesome won 10+games for them this year. Without lebron, heat have a .500 record..easily..if not worse...pretty valuable if you ask me.

I think LBJ is a MVP CANDIDATE. Not THE MVP though.... because Wade is also a MVP candidate.

and I don't think it's fair to use CLE this year to show why LBJ is MVP this year... CLE this year is just showing that LBJ was a good choice for MVP the last 2 years.

Derrick Rose or LeBon James will win the MVP

Honestly,i want LeBron to win it because it will make him one of the rare players ever to win it 3 times in a row

last one to do it was Bird..

I think it would be awesome if Rose won it... obviously. I'm a Bulls fan haha. But I don't think he will.

huh? Without ANY seriousness? Boozer missed a month, Noah has missed a month, we have no SG, only one threat at the outside [Korver] but he's pretty streaky at times and the bulls still win games. He wills the Bulls to victories. If you wanna look at stats, his are pretty good. He's the only one in the league that's top 10 in PPG and APG and is grabbing about 4.5 boards per game.

he SHOULD be considered... idk what you're talking about.

MVP: Nenad. There aren't many guys who have carried his team like this guy lately, and he is just flat out WET from anywhere on the court. He's the kinda guy who would keep a gun in his locker like Gilbert Arenas and get away with it. I wouldn't fuck with this guy. He could ban you!! (oh, he also has a gun. but who needs guns?)

DPOY: Janet. Few players defend the rim like this tenacious defender. Anything thrown up near the rim will be SWATTED right back in your face. Speaking of which, she claims she learned her defensive techniques by creating a shrine for Derek Fisher and - I mean, by intensive lessons with her master that were focused on swatting flies on the wall. Yeah, she has no life Razz.

MIP: SK. Actually, he still sucks to this day, but he made the jump from no armpit hair to three hairs! Yayyy SK's finally growing up!

6th Man: Visa. He can just come off the bench and just EXPLODE for 20+ points. The only problem is, sometimes he gets too focused on the cheerleaders rather than the actual game. Oh well, 'grats to Visa!

ROY: Nick C. He may be the oldest rookie in recent memory, he may have a perm, he may have the secret to the universe - you name it, Nick C is your man. But holy shit, I remember as a young boy...when he would show up to Staples, people were mystified by his greatness, and, also a little disturbed because he looked a little old. But man did he prove his doubters wrong. He could fly higher than MJ, he could shoot better than Jesus Shuttleworth, just a complete, complete, basketball player. Nick C isn't just a basketball player, he's a way of life.

COY: john. Few basketball minds have the intelligence and character that john possesses. Easily the most knowledgeable coach in today's game, john always seemed to create defensive schemes to stop the opposing team's star player but also creating offensive plays that utilized team effort and hustle. Everybody wants to play for this guy. But, unfortunately, when he won his first ever NBA championship he wasn't allowed to celebrate with his team because of the alchohol, so instead, he had a pizza party at Chuckie Cheese's with his buddies.

they haven't convinced anybody? You do not equal everybody, visa. Despite injuries and lack of talent in certain areas, the bulls are playing very good basketball.
