Supposedly they have talked to the Rockets and Blazers and I think the Warriors about Nene already.

No one seems to want JR cuz of his 'tude... and I don't think anyone would want Martin... even though hid contract is expiring.

Attitude or not, JR can light it up, and maybe some teams would take the chance on him. Martin...eh. Still has defense and some ups, but his contract is ugly. But expiring Very Happy

same.

don't you think Melo could have helped the Knicks out a little bit since he knew he wanted to go there?

If he had told DEN that he would only sign an extension with NY, then DEN would have had their backs against the wall. They would have had to accept almost any deal the Knicks offered or else they would have lost melo for nothing over the summer.

So NY still could have kept either Gallo or Chandler... and the Knicks would have been a stronger team.

That roster is gutted.

I remember Billups saying he wanted his contract bought out if he went to the Nets. I wonder how he'll feel the same with the Knicks.

I'm happy this deal is finally done.

Ugh. Terrible trade for NY, they basically give up their whole team for one guy who specializes in scoring, the thing the Knicks needed the MOST Rolling Eyes. Although I'm happy that this whole chatter about Melo is finally over, now we're going to have to hear over and over and over again about the Knicks/Heat or the Knicks/Celtics matchup on whatever date. Oh, and let's not forget - JVG and Marc Jackson will go CRAZY over this. I expect JVG to predict the Knicks to win 82 games next year. Sigh.

Anyways, still kinda wowed that this trade actually happened. Gotta give credit to Denver for bitching around and getting the trade they wanted, and gotta give a to the Knicks for actually doing this trade. I don't see how this benefits them whatsoever, basically they give up their future + their best defensive player/sixth man for a volume scorer. Kinda confused, but still: this trade probably benefits NY in the short-term, Denver in the long term.

Although this kinda scares me if I'm New Orleans, Utah, or any other team with a star player for that matter. This kind of stuff (big name players leaving to team up with other big name players) is occurring more frequently in the NBA, and honestly I'm just fucking tired of it. Why can't there be more competitiveness in the NBA? Sure, competitiveness is spawned when the Knicks-Heat or Lakers-Celtics or whatever comes on TV, but it's just flat out...I can't even describe the word I'm looking for...I don't know what I'm trying to say but mainly it will just be terrible for the NBA and me personally to see 4 teams in each conference be on top of the standings and then sub-.500 teams will make the playoffs more and more. I prefer an NBA that's about competitiveness and equal talent as opposed to a handful of star-studded teams and the rest are lackluster teams and cities looking to recover from these losses. I just don't think it's fair - to the organizations and the cities - that star players frequently leave them for the limelight. It's just terrible. I understand that players want to leave to win championships, I have no problem with that - it's just the way that these players leave is disturbing. I don't know, I guess I'm happy for Carmelo that this is finally over, but I just feel devastated for Denver, even if this trade benefits them in the long run.

They kept Landry Fields which is a plus. They were lacking enough juice for a strong playoff run, now they got some better star power. Hope they end up doing well, the Nuggets will be a strong team also I think. They got some building blocks. Only thing is that Chandler is a free agent after this year I think.

@Ben- Yeah.... I bet Utah, NO, and Orlando are starting to sweat a little. But then again... maybe not. If they can get as much as DEN got for Melo, I think they'll be fine with that.

New York is gonna get abused worser than the Miami Heat down-low and on the perimeter..
