They could have easily hit 'send' too early. They obviously would type something like that early, so it would be ready to be sent asap if Blake won... Just like they have Super Bowl gear made before a team even wins, so they can send it out asap. Also, do you think all those judges would go along with a rigged contest? No the NBA wouldn't pay them to hush... they already have $$, and reputations.

Quit riding his coattail. Obviously Ibaka and DeRozan were robbed.

Ibaka didn't really have any eye popping dunks though they were both difficult. DeRozan's second dunk was sick. McGee had three great dunks, but being in the Finals with Blake sealed his fate. Even if his second dunk of the Finals had him dunking FOUR basketballs in the first try, he was gonna lose because he's a Wizard not a Clipper

They were not robbed, Blake won fair and square. The guy who started this rumor was obviously like you and mad that his player lost. Just think about it, if it was rigged, why the hell would they send that out early and letting everyone know it was rigged? Answer is, they wouldn't; they sent it out by mistake. How did that happen? Well, I already stated that they typed this early, so it is highly likely that they sent it out early by mistake.

People thought this Dunk Contest was set up weeks before it even started. It started when nate Robinson said that the NBA was setting it up for Blake Griffin to win, and that's why he doesn't want to participate. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/01/08/nate-dunk-contest-set-up-for-griffin/

Honestly... I wouldn't be surprised if it was set up.

even in the first round.. Derozan's first dunk from the side of the backboard where he went between his legs and dunked got a 44. Griffin went from the side of the backboard on his second dunk and just threw it down with one hand and got a 47.. and beat Derozan by 1.

While watching it... i thought that was pretty dumb..

Could have been set up... or maybe not. doesn't matter now haha

If Griffin didn't beat Derozan, he never would have made the second round and he never would have jumped over the car which is sponsored by the NBA.. the NBA also forced him to use that car.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-j5FSFgj6E

Demar got a 44 there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IY6aAYgvtE

Griffin got a 46 there. and beat Demar by 1

Now.. is that dunk really 2 points better than Derozan's dunk? Especially since Griffin is 6'10 and should have no problem doing a dunk like that.

If the Judges gave Griffin a 44 [like they gave Demar] then he never would have advanced.. not even if they gave him a 45. No way was that dunk worth a 46.. points from perfect.

The judges simply liked Blake's better. Like I said, the judges wouldn't help rig the contest.

Also consider this.. which is the only contest in the all-star weekend that CAN be rigged? 3pt. contest can't be... The players in it can only control wht they do. Same as the Skills challenge.. and no one really cares about that first one with the WNBA player, current player and former player.

So that leaves the dunk contest.

The Dunk contest also happens to be the contest that had sponsors involved... with Subway, Kia, and nike... and they were all about Blake Griffin. Griffin jumping over a Kia.. Subway spending 3 million.. nike having a marketing campaign planned out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbBMjayrTHM

^commerical with Blake jumping over the Kia's hood advertising the kia...

If Grifin never won or never made it to the second round.. there would be no commercial... meaning less money for the NBA.

But again.. it doesn't matter to me. I wasn't really rooting for anyone in particular to win it.

The skills challenge could be rigged. Rose and CP3 looked like they didn't even give a shit. I'm sure they also had sponsors ready for Ibaka, DDR, and McGee. And when you consider the variables I pointed out... the chances that this was rigged are low.

@abdul no one gave a shit on the skills challenge..do you really think john wall is that slow?

I kind of know its rigged. But I just like to see the dunks. It's not that important of a thing to rig anyway lol

how big is the fan base for Ibaka, Derozan and McGee? not very big.

how big is the fan base for BG? Huge.

there were no sponsors for those 3 guys.

Look at it this way....

Blake made it to the finals, but the judges did not help rig anything like I explained earlier. So the first rounds were not rigged.

Now he's in the finals, I think Blake's dunks in the finals were simply better than McGee's. The finals weren't rigged, they wouldn't have needed to be rigged anyway...

THE FINALS

1. Blake Arm in the ring -
2. McGee Reverse cradle -
3. Blake Kia car -
4. McGee off the glass -

The first rounds weren't rigged because the judges wouldn't go with that, and even if the finals were rigged, don't you think Blake still would've won? McGee's last dunk was too weak IMO.

how do you KNOW the judges wouldn't set it up? cuz they have a reputation? this wouldn't ruin the judges.. it wouldn't ruin anyone cuz it's only a dunk contest. But this dunk contest made the NBA a lot of money.. more money than dunk contests in the past.

second round is fan voting. Back to fan base. BG's is HUGE. McGee's is small.

Even if Blake griffin sucked in the second round, he would have won. Same way Bieber won MVP in the stupid celebrity game. Fans vote.

Yes it was. Derozan should have been in the Finals and win the contest.

Blake Griffin is the most marketable player in the NBA. Why the hell would Stern want him to loose against a bunch of nobodies?

Ibaka might as well have dunked from the three point line, but no way he makes it to the final round.

I wouldn't agree with that statement. He's not the most marketable because..well..he is kind of ugly. but still he's more marketable than mcgee, derozan and definetly charhoal ibaka.

I've already pointed out the reasons why this was WAS NOT rigged... This BS 'rigged' rumor goes around every damn year after the dunk contest..'Cause fans be mad their player lost... w/e believe what you want. It was just a dunk contest, and was a really good one... quit whinning already.
